Due to various hardware and software configurations, some times Plays will not be able to record your game play and an error code may be displayed in Plays client. The list of error codes below may help you find a solution or workaround.

11The Game Recordings Directory is not valid or not reachable at the moment, please check in Plays settings if the directory is set to a valid location.
12The Temporary Video Directory is not valid or not reachable at the moment, please check in Plays settings if the directory is set to a valid location.
13Cannot monitor game process life-time. There may be a software protection or anti-cheat preventing the operation. Please submit a bug report.
14Video recording was attempted but it was not properly initialized by the host. Please submit a bug report.
15Video recording was attempted but it was not enabled by the host. Please submit a bug report.
16Video recording stopped due to low disk space. Free some disk space and try again.
19A supported hardware encoder could not be found on the system. Please check if the video driver and Windows are up to date.
20An invalid parameter has been reported while trying to start video capture. Please submit a bug report.
21Unexpected error while saving replay clip. Please submit a bug report.
22Video recording backend initialization failure. Please submit a bug report.
31An unexpected error occurred while initializing OpenCL. Please check if the video driver is up to date.
89A save clip operation has been requested but the backend was still processing a previous request. Try to restart Plays client if the issue persists.
231Internal error. Please submit a bug report.
233The IPC channel between the encoder server process and the game was lost, the game needs to be restarted to restore video recording functionality.
240The encoder server process was not reachable. Restart Plays and try again. If the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
250The encoder server process was not found, possibly due to a broken installation of Plays app or another software may be blocking access to it. Uninstall Plays app, download it again from Plays website and try to install it again. Submit a bug report if the issue persists.
260The encoder process executable is not installed at the expected directory. Uninstall Plays app, download it again from Plays website and try to install it again. Submit a bug report if the issue persists.
1431A required DirectX API monitor could not be installed. Please try to close background programs that may be trying to capture DirectX APIs such as other video recording software or computer hardware monitoring software.
20004The MP4 file writer could not be initialized due to a fatal error.  Try to restart Plays client and if the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
20032The encoder server process reported a fatal error during encoder initialization. Please check if the video driver and Windows are up to date and if the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
20050Audio device cannot be used because it is locked in Exclusive mode by another application. Disable other applications that may be blocking access to the system's audio resources.
20051Audio device reported a compatible audio format but it was unable to start audio stream capture using the reported format. Check Windows Audio settings (e.g. change 5.1/7.1 channels to Stereo) and try again. If the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
20052A general failure occurred while initializing the audio device. Check Windows Audio settings (e.g. change 5.1/7.1 channels to Stereo) and try again. If the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
20060Microphone device cannot be used because it is locked in Exclusive mode by another application. Disable other applications that may be blocking access to the system's audio resources.
20061Microphone device reported a compatible audio format but it was unable to start microphone stream capture using the reported format. If the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
20062A general failure occurred while initializing the microphone device. Quit the game then try to unplug the microphone, to finally plug it back and try to record again. If the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
30001The clock generator state could not be changed. Try to restart Plays client and if the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
30002An unexpected error occurred during COM initialization. Try to restart Plays client and if the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
30003Media Foundation could not be initialized. If Windows N or Windows KN is installed, you need to install Microsoft Media Pack from Microsoft website.
30004The general presentation clock generator could not be started. Try to restart Plays client and if the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
30005The clock generator state could not be changed. Try to restart Plays client and if the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
30006Memory allocation failed. The computer is running out of resources.
30007The presentation clock generator could not be started. Try to restart Plays client and if the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
30008The internal clock generator could not be started. Try to restart Plays client and if the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
30009An error occurred while executing OpenCL kernel to perform color space conversion. Try to restart Plays client and if the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
30011Presentation's clock generator could not be initialized. Try to restart Plays client and if the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
40001The encoder server process has been terminated unexpectedly. Try to restart Plays client and if the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
40002Unexpected driver behavior. In order to restore recording functionality, the video driver has to be re-installed using the custom installation option, then a clean installation of the driver components needs to be done. Click here for more information.
40003An encoder component could not be created, recording is not possible at the moment. Try to restart Plays client and if the issue persists, please submit a bug report.
40010A fatal error has occurred while initializing the encoder server, a clean installation of Nvidia driver may be necessary if the issue persists. Click here for more information.
